I have had a couple people ask me about the France trip in June 2019. You may have noticed that they page about it is gone from the web site. After spending countless hours in discussions with administrators, and the school board we have all come to the conclusion that the trip is really not feasible for us.
We all agree that it would be an amazing opportunity, but there are a ton of factors that make it difficult for us to pull off. I too am sad that we will not get the opportunity to go, but we are now looking for a new trip idea that will be possible in about the same time frame.
Stay tuned for more information as we get it. I was planning to let people down when I had an alternative plan, but since a couple have asked recently I figured I better fill everyone in .
If you have been saving to go, keep saving so that whatever else we come up with you will be all set to go.

The new site has finally been migrated to the new server. We should be over the humps now and good to go. If you find anything missing that you would like access to let me know and I’ll add it.
Sweat Week starts Monday. Remember that practice is from 7am to 2pm Monday through Saturday. After 2pm I ask that the kids not make any other plans. If we need the extra time to finish stuff or have sectionals I need the kids there.

There is no acceptable excuse for missing Sweat Week! If a student misses any of this week they will be removed from the band. It is that important. If there is a once in a lifetime conflict that you really think warrants missing some of this week the student must meet with Mr. Gibson in person prior to the conflict. The more notice the better. Only if Mr. Gibson says it is approved will it be ok to miss. Do not plan on Mr. Gibson approving anything.

We will have a short parent preview Saturday about Noon. Feel free to come see what we have done. We will even give you a chance to try what they are doing. Wear some comfy shoes and something easy to move in.

A fundraiser to help kids pay for Marching Band. Support one of our students by typing there name in as you check out, or just buy for the general fund. All products are sent directly to you and the kids get the profits. Yay for shopping!

It is that time of year again to audition for next year’s ensembles. At least time to start preparing. Please read the audition info sheet and start preparing. I will complete all auditions prior to Spring Break and will announce positions when we return to school.

It is time to register for Marching Band. If you want to be part of the Uintah Ute Marching Band for the summer and fall 2017 go to the MB page and get registered.
If you are interested in joining the summer parade band or shadow band that information can be found here. Go get signed up for that too.

Greetings from the University of Utah Wind Band Program!! This letter is in regard to this year’s 2017 Honors Workshop. We have had an overwhelming response for this year’s workshop with over 250 nominations! Thank YOU as directors for supporting the University of Utah and this year’s workshop. Once again we have decided to form two honor bands to include as many students as possible to join us on campus for this great opportunity. The students in these honor bands will have a short (no pressure) audition and seated in one of the two equally talented ensembles. We are in the process of hiring an out of state clinician to assist with the workshop. Each conductor will conduct 2 or 3 pieces with each ensemble – making it a rewarding musical experience! Please encourage to have 100% attendance from your school! If you have any more students interested, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please forward or print the following letter and materials to the students. Students are asked to prepare 2 scales of their choice as well as an excerpt from their band music for seating placement auditions.
