Check where I’m planning you on being next fall. It looks like it will be a great year. If you have questions or concerns contact me.
Students may now apply to be in a National Honors Ensemble.
We are excited to announce that applications are NOW OPEN for the 2018 NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles. Thanks to everyone for auditioning. It was great to listen to you all. There are some great musicians in Vernal. I can’t wait to work with you all next year. These results will be posted at all three schools in the band rooms. Please initial your acceptance of the spot. If you can not or don’t want a spot let me know ASAP, please. So here are the lists:
If for some reason I accidentally left your name off a list please let me know.
I think I have everyone listed, but I have made mistakes before.
Is the week after Spring Break. You can find the itinerary here.
There is a lot happening that week. Here is what’s up:
Tuesday March 29 Band Concert at the HS 7pm start time 6:30 pm call time.
Wednesday March 30 Region Band at Springville High School. Both bands and the percussionists are attending this. It is part of the grade.
Thursday March 31 5th grade recruiting concert. This is during the school day and involves everyone.
We will be hosting Region Band and Orchestra tomorrow at Uintah High School. The schedule starts at 9:30am with Union’s Band and we are on second at 10:00am.
If you can show up and support us that would be a big boost to the kids. We would love to have a full house for our kids. Be there by 9:55 if you are coming as there will be no seating while the band is performing.
Thanks and hope to see you there.
So I have been thinking for years now that I want to change the concert band uniform at the high School. In fact I would love to move the whole program to a more traditional look. The look I want to move towards is called “Concert Black.” Traditionally this means that the ladies are in a black long dress. (Alternately ladies could wear an all black pant suit.) The men are in black tuxedos.
Now since I am trying to be money conscious for the people, who like me, have little here are the options:
1. If you have what we have been wearing you may continue to do so.
2. If you want to get your own concert black outfit, you may do so. (Check out YouTube videos of professional and college bands and orchestras to see what I mean.)
3. You may order from our new DeMoulin store. https://store.demoulin.com/mystore/UintahHigh
If you order from DeMoulin shipping has been included in your cost and all the items will be shipped to the school. The deadline for orders is Mar 12. If you order the vest gentlemen you don’t need the cummerbund.
It is my intention to phase out option number 1 and encourage members to move to option number 3. If you will be in the band for a few more years you should just do option number 3 now to avoid the cost in a year or two.
It’s that time again. If you want tickets for the drawing contact a band student or Mr. Gibson. If you want you can just send a check to the High School and include a phone number and name for the tickets. Checks should be masse out to Uintah High School and will need to be received by Dec 19th the day of the drawing. We will ship a prize anywhere in the U.S. if you win. Great prizes this year and the PS3 was donated by EZ Furniture. So a great big thanks to them. Remember tickets are $1 each. You can’t win if you don’t enter. Good Luck!
